Overview

The ai.disable command in Crusader Kings III is used to control the actions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) characters in the game. When you enter this command to the console, the AI will stop taking actions.

This can be particularly useful if you want to prevent the AI from interfering in your plans or if you want to study the game's dynamics without external influences.

If you specify a character id after the command (as in ai.disable [character id]), only the AI for that specific character will be disabled, allowing you to more precisely control the game's dynamics and outcomes.

For instance, if you want to keep a certain character from declaring war or creating a scheme against your character, you can use this command to disable their AI actions.

However, it is important to note that disabling the AI may also have some potential drawbacks. It might make the game considerably easier or may result in an outcome that is less challenging or engaging. Also, it could stop important events from triggering which are driven by AI actions.

AI in CK3

AI plays a crucial role in driving the actions of non-player characters (NPCs). The AI is responsible for managing the vast number of characters that aren't directly controlled by the player, making the game world dynamic and responsive.

The AI in Crusader Kings III is designed to make decisions based on a variety of factors, including:

  • Traits: Each character in the game has a set of traits that define their personality and abilities. The AI takes these traits into account when deciding how a character should act. For example, a character with the "greedy" trait might be more likely to pursue wealth, while a character with the "kind" trait might be more likely to act altruistically.

  • Relationships: The AI considers the relationships between characters when making decisions. This includes familial relationships, friendships, rivalries, and romantic relationships. These relationships can influence a character's actions and goals.

  • Goals: Each AI character has a set of goals that they strive to achieve. These goals can be influenced by a character's traits, relationships, and their current situation. For example, a character might have a goal to gain a certain title, to increase their wealth, or to take revenge on a rival.

  • Situation: The AI takes into account the current situation of a character when making decisions. This includes their current titles, wealth, location, and more. For example, a character who is currently at war might prioritize military actions, while a character who is wealthy and peaceful might focus on diplomacy or intrigue.

The AI in Crusader Kings III is designed to create a realistic and immersive medieval world. Each character, from the lowliest peasant to the mightiest king, is driven by the AI to pursue their own goals and react to the world around them.

This creates a dynamic and unpredictable game world where the player must navigate the complex web of relationships, ambitions, and conflicts that define the medieval world.
