Overview

The Crusader Kings III command "clear_traits" is used to remove all traits associated with a specific character ID. In the game, every character has certain traits that influence their attributes, as well as how they interact with other characters. These traits could relate to personality, diplomacy, martial skills, etc., and can have both negative and positive impacts.

The way the "clear_traits" command works is quite simple: you enter the command followed by the ID of the character whose traits you wish to remove. If you use the command without specifying a character ID, it will default to the player character (the character you're playing as).

This command can be helpful in a variety of situations. For example, if a character's traits are causing problems (for instance, if they're encountering difficulties due to negative traits), using this command can effectively reset them and provide a clean slate.

However, keep in mind that this command could also remove positive traits, so it could potentially have unforeseen negative consequences if not used cautiously. This command is intended for use during debugging and making tweaks during gameplay, providing players the flexibility to change character traits as they see fit.

How to Open the Command Console

In CK3, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~ (tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
