Innovations represent technological, legal, and ideological advances that a culture can make. They are a culture-bound mechanic, similar to research in many other games.
Innovations are divided into four categories:
Cultural Innovations: These are unique to each culture and represent specific traditions or practices of that culture.
Regional Innovations: These are tied to specific geographical regions and represent technologies or practices that developed in those areas.
Military Innovations: These represent advances in military technology and strategy.
Civic Innovations: These represent advances in legal, administrative, and other civic practices.
Innovations are also divided into four different eras: Tribal, Early Medieval, High Medieval, and Late Medieval. Each era has its own set of innovations, and advancing to a new era unlocks a new set of innovations to research.
Once an innovation is unlocked, it can be used by any county whose culture has unlocked that innovation. Innovations can provide a wide range of benefits, including improving vassal relations, enhancing military units, increasing building tiers, speeding up development, and more.
The rate at which innovations are researched can be influenced by various factors, including the learning skill of the culture head, the average development of the culture's counties, and certain character traits or decisions.
