Overview

The set_focus command allows players to change a character's focus to a specified focus ID without needing to wait for the usual five-year cooldown.

Focuses in CK3 are a crucial role-playing component that influences how characters develop over time. They can dictate growth in certain skills, unlock new events, or generate useful lifestyle perks.

To run this command, you would type set_focus [focus id] in the console, replacing [focus id] with the ID of the focus you want to set.

If you want to set a focus for a character other than your currently controlled character, you would type set_focus [focus id] [character id], replacing [character id] with the ID of the character you want to change the focus of.

Using the set_focus command can dramatically affect gameplay depending on the chosen focus, allowing for rapid skill development or the accumulation of lifestyle perks in a specific category.

How to Open the Command Console

In CK3, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~ (tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
