Overview
The Kazak culture belongs to a Turkic people of the vast Central Asian steppe, whose way of life was built around nomadic pastoralism across the open grasslands.
Following their herds of horses, sheep, and other livestock between seasonal pastures, the Kazaks lived in portable felt tents and organised themselves into clans and larger tribal confederations.
The Kazaks embraced Islam while preserving strong steppe traditions, including a rich heritage of oral epic poetry, horsemanship, and the customary law of the grasslands.
Mobile, pastoral, and rooted in the open steppe, the Kazak culture embodied the enduring nomadic way of life of Central Asia.
