Adherents of the Najdati branch of the Khawarij firmly believe in the establishment of Muslim leadership through the consensus of the faithful. The leader is not infallible
Najdat was a sect of the Kharijites, a group in early Islam that arose in the 7th century as a result of a religious and political controversy over leadership. The Najdat sect emphasized strict, literal interpretations of Islamic teachings, considered anyone who commits a major sin as an unbeliever, and was known for their militant stance.
