Age shapes almost everything about a character in Crusader Kings III — fertility, health, and how soon they'll die. The age command lets you move it in either direction once you've opened the console in debug mode.
Add or remove years
Pass the number of years to add to your own character:
Use a negative number to make a character younger:
Change another character's age
Add a character ID after the amount to target someone else:
This is handy for rushing an heir to adulthood, or pushing a rival into old age so nature handles them for you.
How age affects a character
- Fertility peaks in the twenties and falls off sharply with age — making a character younger restores their chance to have children.
- Health declines as characters get older, raising the monthly chance of death from old age.
- Childhood ends at 16; aging a child up grants their education traits and lets them rule, marry, and lead armies.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change a character's age in CK3?
Use age followed by the number of years to add — for example age 50. With no character ID it adjusts your own character's age.
How do I make a character younger in CK3?
Use a negative number, like age -20, to subtract years. You can target someone else by adding their character ID, e.g. age -20 52.
Can changing age kill a character?
Yes. Adding enough years to push a character well past their natural lifespan can trigger a death from old age, so use large positive values with care.
