How to Kill a Character in CK3

Instantly kill any character with the console in Crusader Kings III, plus the legitimate ways to remove a rival.

Sometimes the fastest fix for a troublesome rival, claimant, or spouse is to remove them entirely. After enabling debug mode, the kill command does it instantly.

The kill command

To kill a specific character, pass their character ID:

See how to find a character's ID to get the number you need. Run kill with no ID and it kills your own character instead, passing control to your heir.

A word of warning

Death is permanent and takes effect immediately. Killing your own character with no heir lined up can end the game, so confirm your succession before targeting yourself.

Killing a character without cheats

  • Run a Murder scheme from the intrigue screen against your target.
  • Execute prisoners you have captured in war or through hooks.
  • Lean on the Intrigue lifestyle and assassination events to improve your odds.
