How to Win Wars in CK3

Add elite men-at-arms, fabricate claims, and remove enemy leaders with the console to win any war in Crusader Kings III.

There is no single "win war" button in the console, but a few commands together make any war a formality. After enabling debug mode, you can hand yourself an unbeatable army.

Add elite men-at-arms

The biggest swing is free men-at-arms. Use add_maa with a regiment ID:

Repeat it for a full stack of elite troops. Browse the full list of men-at-arms regiments to find every regiment ID, then add a character ID to give them to an ally.

Start a war with a fabricated claim

No casus belli? Give yourself a claim with add_claim on the title you want, then declare war on its holder.

Remove the enemy's leader

You can also end a war at the source by removing the rival ruler with the kill command — see how to kill a character for the details.

Winning wars without cheats

  • Keep a few fully upgraded men-at-arms regiments that hard-counter your rivals' army composition.
  • Recruit knights and a commander with strong martial and traits.
  • Choose your battles on favorable terrain and avoid river crossings.
  • Hire mercenaries or call in allies and holy orders when outnumbered.
